Landen's Final High School Game (he did later play in two high school all-star games) - February 19, 2022

Dad is 6'7" and mom was the state basketball MVP in high school and then a four-year varsity starter for Oklahoma State University.
2021-22 Ogden High Season: In the past three years combined Ogden High won 10 games total. This year they won nine games. Landen's team improved greatly this year with the most wins Ogden has had in 22 years but sadly they fell just short of making it to the state tournament.
Landen can run the floor, grab rebounds and is a huge defensive presence limiting the inside scoring of opponents greatly. His commitment to working out and improving has been phenomenal... give him a few more years with his size and work ethic he could be a phenomenal player at any level.
Summer 2021: Landen is getting his legs back under him after a long road of pain from a stress fracture in his foot. He has been improving tremendously over the summer working hard on his basketball skills with Coach Danley and strength conditioning with Coach Tuatagaloa. He has recently grown another inch putting him a little over 7 feet tall in shoes.
2020: Landen had a nagging injury in my foot through his sophomore year that carried into the summer before his junior year. An MRI revealed a large hidden Navicular Stress Fracture in his foot. He had surgery in July of 2020.
Landen's junior year was hard for him and his team. He was barely cleared to run and play basketball right as the season started however he/we pushed it too hard with a very sore foot that caused other issues from overcompensating, issues like horrible Osgood-Schlatters pain in his opposite knee...
He played limited minutes in pain his junior year which was basically the last couple of games of the season.

Dallen Smith Power Forward at Layton Christian Academy
My hunting and shooting has come to a stand still for a few months to make way for basketball season. I've been a little busy keeping up with our three boys playing basketball. I do plan on working up a 270 WSM, 150 gr Hornady SST load for my X-Bolt as soon as things settle down a little.
Dallen is a senior at Layton Christian Academy. Layton Christian Academy is the top rank team in the state of the 2A teams. It's been an exciting year for Dallen and the team. He is on a team with a lot of talented players and a wonderful head coach, Bobby Porter.
I have started to go through some of the video from Dallen's season and will post and update this playlist.
Update 3-2-16: Dallen had a fun season. His team did really well. It was a little disappointing that they lost they state championship game by one point.
On March 12th Dallen was one of ten players from the state selected to play in the 1A vs 2A All-Star game at South Sevier High School.
Here are a few of the highlights from Dallen's senior year.
This clip below shows only the minutes that Dallen is on the court for a full game. Dallen is #54 in white. The game is against Waterford, the second place team in our region. Waterford took 6th place at the state tournament this year.
In this game Dallen is assigned to guard #32 a 6’6” player that likes to shoot the 3 ball and post up. #32 scored 20 points the game just before this. #32 doesn’t score a single point when Dallen is in the game and only takes two shots. #32 does finish the game with 9 points but none of them were with Dallen on the court.
Dallen has the ability to score a lot but given most of the players on his team this year are just as capable, he works hard on the boards and defense. When the ball does come his way he knows what to do with it.

Dallen's broken finger.
When we are not out hunting and shooting, chasing kids to basketball games tends to be one of our family's common practices.
Dallen had a rough year this past year. He broke is finger midseason and dealt with some other things that necessitated us moving him to another school. Dallen is excited to be playing at Layton Christian Academy for his senior year of 2015-16.
In our cow elk hunts this past winter Dallen was hunting with a sock over the cast on his left hand.
Dallen loves basketball, is right hand dominant yet drives and shoots with his left hand more than his right. He reminds me of Charles Barkley with his size, strength and ability to shoot from the outside. Although he doesn't shoot much from the outside his junior year he has a great shot from behind the arch and I expect he will be shooting the three-ball his senior season.
Dallen is built like a college football tight end, but basketball is what he loves. I know he is really hopeful that he can find a place on a college team. He's working hard to be a really strong power forward that can shoot the three-ball, drive and spin to the basket. I'm excited to watch him play his senior year at LCA.

Here's a full game of him after he came back from having a broke finger. In this game against Union he played around 8-10 minutes and did quite well. It's the last regular-season game of the year and he gets the most minutes in a varsity game all year. Dallen checks into the game at 23:45, 39:24 in the video below. Dallen is number is 33 in the dark uniform.
